Wayside Friends and Family,

Welcome to the homepage of Wayside Elementary School, the home of the Warriors. The entire learning community here at Wayside takes great pride in working to maximize the talent and potential from each and every one of our young students. At Wayside we embrace the concept of team work and function as a Professional Learning Community (PLC).

You can expect our teachers to meet regularly to collaborate around key questions of instruction such as “What do we want our students to learn?” and “How will we know if they have learned it?” Through this process we constantly monitor and adjust how we teach, to meet the needs of all students.

In addition to academics, Wayside works to support the social needs of our students. We teach our students about personal accountability and the “5 Wayside Rules”. At Wayside we have the highest expectations for all students. Every day we ask them to be:

1) Safe

2) Respectful

3) Responsible

4) Cooperative

5) Ready to Learn.

Wayside uses positive reinforcements to encourage all students to be recognized for good behaviors. Students can earn “Positive Referrals” for meeting one or more of the 5 Wayside Rules. We also are very proud of our positive behavior intervention team (PBIS) that meets to discuss and plan for ways to intervene and positively support the behavioral needs of all of our students.

Lastly, we embrace our parent and family community as our partners in this journey to student success. Wayside hosts many regular opportunities for parents to participate and be involved in our learning community. We have monthly family picnic days, awards assemblies, parent engagement sessions and frequent opportunities for teachers to interact and collaborate with our community members. Our school motto clearly reflects our culture: Excellence. Every Student. Every Day.

With great pride,

Dr. Dylan Capilla
