Spelling Bee

The Bakersfield City School District Spelling Bee is an oral competition and uses the Kern County Spelling Bee Rules as adapted from the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. The words used in the BCSD Spelling Bee are selected from the current edition of Paideia. The contest is conducted in rounds.

The Spelling Bee winner and second place contestant from each region is invited to represent the Bakersfield City School District at the Kern County Spelling Bee. The winner at the county levelproceeds to the National Spelling Bee.

Participants: 4th through 8th graders in participating BCSD schools

When: January of each year
