Fletcher Parent Letter August 2017

Welcome to Dr. Douglas K. Fletcher Elementary School!

 

Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 16, 2017.  The first day of school happens to fall on a Wednesday, which is a “bank” day.  Please remember that on Wednesdays, we have a “bank” day which allows teachers time for grade level planning and collaboration.   Students will be released early on Wednesdays.  We begin school at 8:15am with dismissal for kindergarten students at 12:38pm, dismissal for 1st-3rd grades at 1:35pm and dismissal for 4th – 5th grades dismissal at 1:40pm.  The bus schedules have been slightly changed for our Wednesday “bank” day.  Students will be picked up earlier by the busses from Fletcher each Wednesday. Please check the bus schedule.

 

Our regular day schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) is as follows:  Kindergarten:  8:15 to 1:10; Grades 1-3: 8:15 to 2:27 and Grades 4-5: 8:15 to 2:40.  There have been some slight adjustments to allow for changes in bus schedules and the implementation of a district-wide “bank” at every school on Wednesdays. All students will be riding a bus to school unless transported by their parents.  The bus schedules are included in this letter.  Please review carefully. As a reminder, students attending Fletcher on a transfer are not eligible for bus transportation.

 

We begin breakfast at 7:30am.  Students will not be allowed on campus prior to 7:30 as there will not be playground or cafeteria supervision.  Students who arrive at 7:30am will be taken directly to the cafeteria as there is no playground supervision until 7:45am. Breakfast service ends at 8:05am.

 

For everyone’s safety, we need to pay close attention to our student drop-off/pick-up area in the front of the school, off Highland Knolls Drive.  There is a loop in the second parking lot entrance to allow cars to safely pull around to drop off/pick up their children.  When dropping off your children, please pull forward slowly and remain in your car.  This will create a safer atmosphere for students and parents.  There is absolutely no parking allowed in the drop-off loop area
