About Dr. Douglas K. Fletcher
Dr. Douglas K. Fletcher (1942 – 1987) was a former principal at Jefferson Elementary School in the Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) as well as a teacher, counselor and vice principal at Fremont Elementary and Emerson Middle Schools. Following his time with BCSD, Dr. Fletcher served as Director of Curriculum for Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Superintendent of the Wasco Elementary School District, and Superintendent/Principal for the Wasco Union High School District. As a child, Dr. Fletcher attended Casa Loma Elementary School, Emerson Junior High and Bakersfield High School. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and later received his doctorate in education from the University of San Francisco.
