District Hosts Junior High/Middle School Oral Language Festival

November 13, 2017 – Congratulations to all the participants and winners in this year’s Junior High/Middle School Oral Language Festival!  Bakersfield City School District hosted the annual event for 7th and 8th graders at the Education Center on Baker Street.  Several students participated in the competition where they use their dramatic and speaking skills to present literary selections with spoken word.

The competition featured presentations in serious and humorous interpretations as solo, duo or as verse choirs of three to six students.  The selected winners will represent the District at the County Event which will take place January, 2018.

There will also be a similar competition for grades 4-6 on December 2, 2017 at California State University, Bakersfield.
