July 5, 2017 – Several select students participated in Stella Hills Summer Learning Academy. The program provided students with targeted instruction in an effort to increase reading, writing, listening, speaking and thinking skills. On the final day, parents were invited to celebrate the completion of the program and had the opportunity to preview some of the student’s work, and listen to the children sing various songs that they had learned.
Diane Wallace, Supervisor of State and Federal Programs at BCSD and Coordinator of the Academy, said, “Each student received individualized instruction in reading, writing, science and music on a daily basis. Parents were also invited to attend FACE activities and earn fun prizes like passes to the McMurtry Aquatics Center and movie passes from Maya Theaters.”
In addition to the instruction and fun activities, each student also enjoyed BCSD’s daily breakfast and lunch program.
