June 28, 2017 – The regular school year may have come to an end, but that has not stopped the learning and activities taking place inside BCSD classrooms. Twelve BCSD schools opened their doors on June 12th to provide and educational opportunities for both students and parents. This year’s Summer School Program which will continue until the end of the month.
During the program, students have the opportunity to participate in craft projects, library visits, meal programs and various other activities. Parents also had the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of scheduled events including morning Zumba, nutrition education, computer and technology training, knitting club, and many, many others.
One such activity took place last week at Franklin Elementary, where students and parents gathered in the Parent Resource Center for a training on nutrition called “Plan, Shop, Save & Cook.” The parents were given several useful tips on grocery shopping, cost saving methods and overall healthy eating. Later in the afternoon, they had the opportunity to create decorative Father’s Day cards to take home for the weekend.
