District Officials Discuss Proposed LCAP Actions with Community

May 10, 2017 – Hundreds of Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) parents and families gathered in the BCSD auditorium on May 4th to learn about the proposed Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) actions for 2017-2020. BCSD Superintendent Doc Ervin, and Assistant Superintendent Mark Luque, shared with attendees some of the actions the District plans to implement over the next three academic years to help meet BCSD’s three LCAP goals: Improve Academic Achievement, Ensure a Safe and Healthy Environment, and Parent Engagement.

The LCAP is an important component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Under the LCFF, all school districts are required to prepare an LCAP, which describes how they intend to meet annual goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities. The final BCSD LCAP 2017-2020 is set to be approved by the Board of Education at the June 20, 2017 board meeting.
