BCSD Schools Host Winter Concerts

December 29, 2016 – Festive holiday music was heard throughout the halls of schools across the district as student groups performed singing, dancing and musical numbers as part of their annual Winter Concert presentations.

The concert at Pauly Elementary featured several excellent performances including a comical singing of “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” a dance team, a violin ensemble and an orchestra featuring saxophones, flutes, clarinets and percussion.

Students at Horace Mann delighted their audience with several Christmas favorites both sung and played on recorders.  Sierra Middle School’s event had more than 300 attendees who were treated to a number of enjoyable performances including a vocal choir, string ensemble, orchestra and the Sierra Marching Band.

The concert at Compton Junior High featured music performed by a vocal choir, a strings ensemble and a mariachi band featuring guitars, trumpets and violins. College Heights and Longfellow Elementary Schools also featured orchestra and violin groups performing several different holiday favorites for their audiences.

Each school in the Bakersfield City School District hosts an annual Winter Concert and welcomes students, parents and families to participate in the festivities.  The concerts take place at various campuses and dates throughout December.
