Students Participate in Oral Language Festival

November 7, 2016 The Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) hosted the annual Junior High Oral Language Festival Saturday November 5th, in the Education Center Board Room. This unique festival celebrates the art of spoken word where students showcase their talents in several competitive speech categories, such as serious, humorous and verse, in solo, duo and team performances.

This event gives the participants an excellent opportunity to develop their verbal and non-verbal communication skills, enhance public speaking confidence and ability, express themselves creatively through spoken word and build an overall appreciation of literature.

The elementary portion of the festival will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 9:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m at the California State University, Bakersfield, Dezember Leadership Development Center, 9001 Stockdale Highway.

The selected winners will represent BCSD at the Kern County Oral Language Festival in January.
