Stiern Marching Band and Color Guard Earn High Marks at Recent Competitions

November 16, 2016 – The Stiern Middle School Marching Band took home several awards and received high levels of distinction in four separate competitions on consecutive Saturdays from Oct. 22nd-Nov. 12th.
The band features 53 instrumentalists and 16 color guard members, and is under the direction of Justin Milota.  They practice together during their first period class each day, and conduct sectional practices afterschool from 2:05 -3:00 pm. The results of their limited practice time together have been impressive.

At their first competition, The West High School Showcase of Bands, they received 1st place band and received the highest marks for overall Music, Percussion, Visual for aesthetic performance and Auxiliary for their Color Guard performance.

In total, they brought home 12 awards including 1st place band at Centennial High School Music in Motion, 2nd place bane at both the “Ridgeview Howl” and Stockdale Band Spectacular, 2nd place Auxiliary (Centennial Music in Motion) and 2nd place Percussion (Stockdale Band Spectacular).

The band has several other competitions and performances through May of 2017.  You have an opportunity to see them perform in their annual winter concert on December 15th @ 6 PM, in the Stiern Middle School multipurpose room.
