FACE Celebrates Parent Graduation of “Loving Solutions” Program

November 12, 2016 – The Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department of the Bakersfield City School District recently held graduations for parent participants of the “Loving Solutions” program at College Heights and Evergreen Elementary.  Loving Solutions is a 10 week, 20 hour course that aims to improve overall parental skills and introduces helpful strategies when raising tough kids.

Some of the topics presented included Encouraging Positive Choices, Parenting the Strong Willed, Structuring for Success, Improving School Performance and many others.  Each parent that participated in the 10 week program received a Certificate of Completion and a special gift.

Marshella Taylor, a Behavioral Intervention Specialist and one of the instructors for Loving Solutions, said, “I have taught this class and I have seen amazing results.  Parents have told us that when they implement the new strategies, they see good results.”

“This workshop is about learning to treat children with love, learn to give them time when they are stressed, and also it’s about establishing good communications between parents and children,” said parent Evelia Honorato.

These are the first two of several graduations for this program across BCSD schools.  The Loving Solutions program will be offering spring sessions starting in January.  CLICK HERE for more information or to sign up!
