After School Program Attends California Department of Education Workshop

November 28, 2016 – Bakersfield City School District’s (BCSD) After School Program recently attended a special workshop presented by The California Department of Education’s (CDE) Expanded Learning Division.  The workshop offered several informative sessions all geared toward quality improvement in after school programs.

The keynote speaker was Michael Funk, Director of the After School Division of CDE.  Some of the topics presented included “Quality Standards:  Because Quality Matters” and “(CQI)²: Continuous Quality Improvement in Action.”

The event took place in Ontario, CA and was attended by department representative’s Deanna Clarke and Deneen Oroz.  Their plan is to share and implement the concepts that were presented with all staff of the After School department at future meetings.
