BCSD Inducts the 2016 Hall of Fame Class

June 7, 2016 – The Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) Board of Education inducted the members of the 2016 Class of the BCSD Hall of Fame during an awards dinner on June 3rd at the DoubleTree Hotel. Those inducted join other recipients of this honor which include former students who are notable for their professional accomplishments and community members who have distinguished themselves by their service to the District. Inductees are permanently honored through the BCSD Hall of Fame display, located in the Board Room Lobby at the Education Center, 1300 Baker Street.

The 2016 inductees are:

• Dr. Robert J. Arias – Chief Deputy of Local and Statewide Initiatives for the office of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools; BCSD Superintendent 2012-2015.

• Mr. Bob Fulenwider – Retired BCSD Math Teacher and District Math Program Specialist; Founder of BCSD Math Bowl; Former BCSD student.

• Dr. Fred L. Haynes – President of the BCSD Board of Education; Co-founder of Dr. Fred Luther Haynes Award; Former BCSD student and Principal.

• Mr. Michael D. Lingo –BCSD Superintendent 2006-2011; Former BCSD student, teacher, and administrator.

• Ms. Eleanor Lyle – BCSD volunteer at Harris Elementary School for 15 years; Retired Registered Nurse.

• Dr. Jess Nieto – Founder and Executive Director of Heritage of America; Founder and President of Nieto & Associates, Marketing & Advertising.

• Felicia Gordon Sanders – Mission Interface Manager for the NASA Deep Space Network; Former BCSD student.
