Winter Art Gallery Pieces Now on Display

February 25, 2016 – The Bakersfield City School District offices are adorned with new creative art pieces prepared by dozens of young BCSD student artists for the Winter Art Gallery exhibit. A reception was held earlier this week attended by many families, members of the BCSD Board of Education, and District officials.

The BCSD Art Gallery provides a vehicle for sharing student art work. The Winter 2016 Art Gallery includes 66 pieces selected from 284 entries. The pieces are updated three times each year during the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Following each exhibit, most of the artwork is returned to the students at their schools, while other pieces are mounted into copper, gold and silver picture frames that are now part of the growing permanent collection displayed throughout the District building.

The Winter 2016 Art Gallery student art work is eligible to be submitted into the Kern County Fair Youth Art Exhibit taking place from September 21st through the October 2nd. Each work of art can also be found on the District’s Visual and Performing Arts Department website

The Visual Arts are a vital part of the school curriculum, and provide a unique form of self-expression. BCSD commends the work of our students and the teachers who deliver art instruction throughout the District’s classrooms. The next art gallery and reception will take place in April 2016.
