BCSD Seeks Nominations for the 2016 Hall of Fame

February 2, 2016 – The Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) is now accepting nominations for inductees
into the BCSD Hall of Fame – Class of 2016. Since its inception in 2010, the Hall of Fame has recognized
former students who are noted for their professional accomplishments and community members who have
distinguished themselves by their service to the BCSD. Former recipients are permanently honored
through the BCSD Hall of Fame display, located in the Board Room Lobby at the Education Center, 1300
Baker Street.

Past BCSD Hall of Fame Inductees include:
— Kevin McCarthy, U.S. Congressman District 32
— Harvey Hall, Bakersfield Mayor
— Mike Maggard, Kern County Supervisor
— Irma Carson, Former Bakersfield City Councilmember
— Dolores Huerta, Dolores Huerta Foundation

“The Hall of Fame offers BCSD an opportunity to honor and recognize individuals who have contributed
to education in our community,” said Lilian Tafoya, President Pro-Tem of the BCSD Board of Education.
“We also seek individuals who have benefitted from their educational experience in our district and are
successfully making a difference in their pursuit.”

The deadline to make a nomination is March 11, 2016. The BCSD Board of Education will review the
entries and select the recipients. Inductees will be announced on March 30, 2016 and honored and during
the Hall of Fame Gala on June 3, 2016. To submit a nomination, visit www.BCSD.com. Submit
