Assistant Superintendent to Lead the Instructional Program for the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence

For over a decade Dr. Aida Molina has been committed to improving educational opportunities for the children of Bakersfield City School District (BCSD), providing high quality professional development for instructional teams, and consistently reminding us all that, “You can’t teach the child you don’t know.” Without a doubt, Dr. Molina’s leadership and inspiration throughout the District will be missed.

Currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Academic Improvement and Accountability, Dr. Molina tendered her resignation effective February 1, 2016. Aida was asked to join the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) to serve as the Director of Education. The CCEE will work in partnership with internationally acclaimed education reformer practitioner Michael Fullan, to create the capacity for transformational change in our educational system. Within the larger context, the CCEE will delineate key actions in governing local control in California, partnering with county offices and districts across the state.

“As exciting as this new opportunity is, the decision to leave the BCSD Team was not an easy one to make,” said Dr. Molina who has served in the role of Assistant Superintendent since January 7, 2013.

In a letter to BCSD educators and staff members, Dr. Molina thanked the continued commitment to excellence of all employees, “and more importantly, for your collaborative spirit that has already positively impacted the lives of so many of our children. I have been honored to work, side by side, with such a dedicated team.  In my new role, I envision extending the collective work we have accomplished in BCSD to students throughout California.”

We are honored to have one of our own become part of our state’s pioneering efforts to systemically fortify local control implementation, establish momentum for the scope of work, and solidify support throughout the system for school reform.
