Emotionally Disturbed

Emotionally Disturbed Program

The Bakersfield City School District operates a variety of classrooms designed for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. These classrooms are designed to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of the students. Students in this program work on the California Common Core State Standards at the same pace as the general education classes. The classes in the ED program have fewer students and additional instructional staff to help manage the needs of the students.
Included in the ED program is the SEAL center at Rafer Johnson Community School. This school site is designed to meet the specific needs of students with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Additional therapists and behavior management specialists are on site to ensure the students emotional and behavioral needs are met. The goal of the ED program is to support the district’s schools with meeting the needs of all students with emotional or behavioral disorders to ensure that all students receive an appropriate and meaningful academic experience.
