Welcome

kiddos:

Bakersfield City School District provides Special Education and Related Services to students who are eligible for Special Education based on assessment and eligibility criteria identified in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the California Education Code sections applicable to individuals with exceptional needs. BCSD is a single-district Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) and has an active Community Advisory Committee (CAC) comprised of parents with children having disabilities and other individuals interested in our Special Education programs and services.  Each school and specialized program has a Special Education administrator assigned to provide support to the individual school administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents in order to ensure that students with disabilities eligible for Special Education receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Our site is continuously being updated to provide information regarding Special Education to staff, parents, and other interested individuals.
